Amendments to the Workers Compensation Act and WCAT’s Manual of Rules of Practice and Procedure (MRPP) effective April 3, 2023

Effective April 3, 2023 section 302 of the Workers Compensation Act, is amended to permit an employer, worker, or dependant of a deceased worker, who is a party in an appeal in which the worker’s medical condition is at issue, to request that a WCAT panel retain an independent health professional to provide assistance or advice to assist the panel in making a decision.

Effective April 3, 2023, the MRPP items 12.1 and 12.2 are amended to align with the changes to the Workers Compensation Act.
