WCAT is a high volume tribunal. We decide thousands of appeals each year. Given the size of our decisions database, it is sometimes difficult to conduct useful searches. Therefore WCAT staff have selected certain decisions to be designated as noteworthy decisions. Noteworthy decisions fall into two distinct categories:
Noteworthy decisions are not binding on WCAT. Although WCAT panels may refer to and follow them, they are not necessarily intended to be leading decisions. It is open to WCAT panels to consider any previous WCAT decision when deciding an appeal.
WCAT staff have summarized each noteworthy decision. These summaries do not form part of the decision.
